Carolyn Ferguson

February 20, 1944 — February 23, 2022

Waynesville

Waynesville, Carolyn L. Ferguson, age 78, surrounded by family, old friends, new friends that loved and cared for her, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, under the care of Maggie Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation.

A native of Haywood County, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Frank Woodfin and Annie Mae Parton Ledford.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Wayne Ferguson, who passed away in 1989; two brothers, Charlie and Stanley Ledford, and one sister, Betty Ann Gunter.  For 35 ½ years, Carolyn worked and then retired from Dayco.  She then met Dwight Nelson, her second love of her life who passed away in 2015.  Together they enjoyed family and church.  She did all she could do to provide the best help to her nieces, nephews, and anyone who might have needed assistance.  Her life away from work revolved around her family, church, and her immaculate garden.  From spring until fall there was always something in bloom in Carolyn’s Garden.  Once grandchildren were introduced into her life, she treasured the trips to Pigeon Forge, the beach, and countless other fun times with the loves of her life.  Carolyn was also a faithful member of Dellwood Baptist Church and adored her church family.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Tonya Ferguson, of Canton; son, Charles "Ty" Ferguson and his wife, Tootsie, of Waynesville; three brothers, Randall Ledford and his wife, Patty, of Fines Creek, Jimmy Ledford, of Canton, and Michael Ledford and his wife, Susan, of Fines Creek; two sisters, Wanda Coggins and her husband, Ron, of Fort Lawn, South Carolina and Barbara Deaver and her husband, LeFaine, of Providence, Kentucky; and five grandchildren, Jesse, and wife, Lucinda, Jacob, Thea, Johnathan, and Hunter.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Dellwood Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Rogers, Reverend Shawn Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
