Carol McKnight, age 82, passed into the presence of God’s loving arms on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Harmony at Reynolds Mountain.
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Carol McKnight was the daughter of the late Lester and Catherine Cruce McKnight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Strickland; her brother, Charles; and sister-in-law, Sue McKnight.
Carol was a beloved mother, sister and aunt. Her daughter Karen Strickland and son Michael were so blessed to call this gentle spirit, “mom”. Carol took the most important job that God has here on earth, as that of motherhood and cherished every moment. Nothing in life was more important to her than the wellness and happiness of her children. She was a beautiful soul who loved God, who was feisty and loved to laugh. To many, Carol will be remembered by her infectious laughter and gift for storytelling.
Carol loved her job as a secretary at a school district in California. But it is her joy in giving to others selflessly, her love of nature, and gift with photography, and of course simply being a mom that brought her enormous gratification. She instilled in her children and demonstrated to others that what truly matters in life is God, family and friends, joy, hope and laughter.
Carol will be deeply missed by her daughter, Karen Strickland of Waynesville, NC; her niece, Ellen Powell, and her husband, Roger, and their sons, Jeremy and Brandon; her nephew, Craig McKnight; and her late niece Nancy Gudvangen’s children, Melissa and Will.
Heaven certainly gained a beautiful light on December 18, 2020.
