Carlton Ford

Asheville - Carlton Michael "Mike" Ford, 65, of Asheville, went to his heavenly home on Monday, April 30, 2018 while visiting in Harrisonburg, Virginia. His wife Sandy, of 41 years, was by his side.

Born December 10, 1952, in Asheville, NC, to Ruth Sanderson Ford and the late McConley P. Ford. Mike grew up in Haywood County and graduated from Pisgah High School and attended Western Carolina University. Mike was employed by HBD Industries from 1981-October 2013, working in the Asheville, Barnardsville, and Hot Springs plants.

Surviving in addition to his mother and wife are his son, Joseph "Joe" Ford and wife, Becky and his two precious grandsons, Lucas Michael Ford (6) and Elijah David Ford (4), all of Broadway, Virginia; sisters, Connie Ford Barnett (Rick) of Alexander and Karen Ford Keener (Gerald) of Clyde; in-laws, Bob and Lib Merrill of Asheville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pam and Tim Thielke of Leesburg, Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Thielke presiding. Burial will follow in the Old Thickety Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank Asheville Kidney Center and their wonderful staff for their compassion and love the past 4 1/2 years. Special thanks to Shaun Boyd and Dr. Brian England.
