Carl "C.A." Arnold Ownbey

Carl Arnold “C. A. “ Ownbey, 80, of Fairview passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Mission Hospital. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Charles Robert and Hilda Buckner Ownbey.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Ownbey Ebernickel and Rita Ann Laudenslager and a brother, Larry Ownbey.

As a self-employed contractor, C.A. spent most of his life in construction. He enjoyed nascar racing and football.  His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sally Reed Ownbey; daughter, Cheryl Ownbey Rector of Asheville; son, Christopher Alan Ownbey of Candler; five grandchildren, Megan Rector (Brannon Gann), Wayne Rector (Julie Moore), Jordan Ownbey, Annalisa Ownbey, Meliea Valle (Micha Hart) and three great grandchildren, Kyndall Rector, Braedyn Hicks and Parker Hicks.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 in the Wells Chapel of Faith with Pastor Josh DeHart officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023 in Wells Chapel of Faith in Candler.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the 7 West floor at Mission Hospital and to Care Partner’s Hospice for their excellent care of C.A during his stay.
