Born on April 29, 1929, in Yancey County, North Carolina, C B lived a life dedicated to kindness, compassion, and service.
A proud World War II veteran, C B served in the Navy, a commitment that shaped his sense of duty and care for others. He exemplified these traits throughout his life, being a deacon for over 30 years at Edgewood Baptist Church, where he offered guidance and support to many. His humility and quiet strength made him a safe person for countless individuals, always ready to take care of those around him.
C B was known not only for his compassionate nature but also for his vibrant personality. He possessed remarkable musical talent, skillfully playing the accordion and harmonica simultaneously, along with the guitar, keyboard, and piano. His voice resonated joyfully, bringing music into the lives of his family and friends. He was also an avid herbalist, with an encyclopedic knowledge of trees and plants, nurturing numerous birds back to health through his care and dedication. Affectionately, he did not tolerate bullies, particularly the bluejays that occasionally challenged his gentle approach.
In his professional life, C B worked as a roofer throughout the Asheville area, a career that brought him great pride. He could point out any building he had worked on, always sharing fond stories connected to his experiences. His profound dedication to his craft was a testament to his strong work ethic and love for his community.
C B leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa French and her husband Christopher, Anita Weatherman and her partner Paul Moriarty, and Judy Davis and her partner Robert Zelaya; his son Bruce Weatherman and his wife Vivian; as well as seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
