Waynesville, Bruce David Flood, age 63, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Memorial Mission Campus.
Bruce was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 1, 1957 to David Newell and Grace Bunnell Flood. He was preceded in death by his father, David N. Flood. He is survived by his mother, Grace Bunnell Flood of Waynesville; two sisters, Janette Terry of Waynesville, and Cynthia Pearson (Chris) of Oregon; and his nieces and nephews, Meadow, Carson, Ian, Liam, Jessica and Natalie.
Bruce had a pioneering, entrepreneurial spirit from a young age, along with mechanical ability and artistic imagination. After running several small businesses in Florida, Bruce moved to Waynesville to join his retired parents. He quickly embraced his new community and started his new venture, Top Leaf Landscaping. Bruce's love of people and the land were evident as he hired others who sought to enhance their lives as they created artistic yards including lovely rock walls. As a legacy to his work a number of these creations can be found in and around Waynesville.
Bruce was also a motorcycle enthusiast with the knowhow to build them from scratch. He loved music and could often be found at local concerts and dancing with others on Main Street during street fairs. He could figure out how to fix anything and was always coming up with innovative ideas on how to make things work better. He loved animals and his dogs were family to him.
Bruce is deeply missed by family and friends. A memorial will be planned when it is safe to gather.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sarge's Animal Rescue, 256 Industrial Park Drive, Suite B, Waynesville, NC 28786
The care of Mr. Flood has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Waynesville.
