Billy Rector

Waynesville-Billy Ted Rector, age 86, of Sunny Hill Lane, died on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Golar and Ollie Rathbone Rector. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Walker Rector who died in 1998 and a son, Kirby Rector. Billy loved work of any kind and helping his neighbors and friends. He especially liked gardening. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Ferguson and her husband, Joe, of Clyde. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Paula Dempsey and Reverend Larry Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home, and at other times, at the residence. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Walker, Charles Wood, Kenny Duckett, Johnnie Crawford, Eric Bolden, and Randy Ledford. Memorials may be given to Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 54 Sally Branch Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
