Billy Ray Frizzell

Billy Ray Frizzell (Ray), 89, passed away on December 8, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by his loved ones. Born on September 24, 1934, in Jackson County, Billy Ray was the son of Arthur and Thelma Johnson Frizzell.

Ray's remarkable career spanned over four decades at Champion Paper, where he served as a Machine Manager before retiring in 1995. His commitment to his work was unparalleled, and his contributions to the company played a significant role in their success.

Beyond his professional life, Ray was known for his caring and loving nature. His devotion to his children and grandchildren knew no bounds, and he always prioritized their well-being. His family held a special place in his heart, and he found immense joy in spending time with them.

In addition to family life, Ray dedicated time to his community and personal interests. He proudly served in the US Army during his younger years, showcasing his patriotic spirit. Ray was an active member of Frances Cove Church.

Ray's interests extended beyond his professional endeavors and military service. He valued the importance of hobbies including golf and gardening and found solace in pursuing them. However, it was clear that spending quality time with loved ones always remained at the forefront of his priorities.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa Wright.  Ray and Theresa were married for 71 years.  Ray adored Theresa and was a loving and devoted father.   Together, they shared a lifetime of cherished memories and unconditional love. Their union was blessed with three children; Jason Frizzell (Selina), Laura Danes, and Bonnie Kennedy. He is also survived by a brother, Roy Frizzell, as well as a sister, Nell Burnette.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Francis Burnette and a brother, Harold Frizzell.

The legacy of Ray's remarkable life lives on through the lives of his five grandchildren – Sophia Danes, Emily Danes, Claire Kennedy, Jackson Frizzell, and Carson Frizzell. They were the pride and joy of his later years.

During this difficult time, may his family and friends find solace in the memories they shared with Ray Frizzell. His presence will be deeply missed, but his impact on their lives will forever remain. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
