William Ben “Bill” Terrell, a beloved member of the community, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at CarePartners Hospice in Buncombe County. He was born on May 12, 1937, in Haywood County to the late, Clifton and Virginia Russell Terrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Trull Terrell, who died in 1986. Bill lived a remarkable life filled with notable accomplishments and kind-hearted service to his fellow man.

Bill's career was marked by dedication and commitment. He spent many years working for Champion International as a Maintenance Planner before retiring. But his passion extended beyond his professional career. Bill was known for his pastoral work at Rescue Baptist Church and Sunny Point Baptist Church in Canton. He was serving as the Minister to Seniors at Crestview Baptist Church and was teaching Sunday School there. Education played a vital role in Bill's life. He graduated from Bethel High School in 1955. Later in life, he graduated from Haywood Community College with a degree in Business Administration.  After retirement, he completed studies at Fruitland Baptist Bible College with a degree in Religion/Christian Ministries.

His love for the Lord was evident in everything he did. Bill took great joy in teaching Sunday School and Bible studies, touching the lives of countless individuals through his words of wisdom and spiritual guidance.

Outside of his religious commitments, Bill embraced life with zest and enthusiasm. He enjoyed playing golf, spending time with friends, and playing bluegrass and country music. Bill's musical talent brought people together, fostering harmonious connections within the community.

Known for his selflessness, Bill continually sought out opportunities to assist others in any way he could. His compassionate nature touched numerous lives throughout the years.  In addition to his impressive career and charitable endeavors, Bill proudly served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958.

Bill's proudest accomplishments extended beyond professional success; they encompassed his role as a devoted family man and loyal friend. He is survived by his wife Margaret Gidney Terrell; three daughters: Susan Terrell Savage (David), Sandra Terrell Royal (Todd), and Janet Pressley (Tony); and three sons, Weldon, Keith, and Ed Inman. His seven grandchildren—Jake Savage (Amy), Cody Savage (Danielle), Thomas Royal (Pam), Helen White (Blaine), Grace Royal, Lauren Inman, and Megan Inman, brought immense joy to his life. Bill was also blessed with five great-grandchildren—Levi Savage, Liam Savage, Weston Savage, Kady Savage, and Andres Royal; two brothers, Clifton Terrell (Rheta), and Russell Terrell (Ana). He cherished the time he spent with family, creating lasting memories that will be forever treasured.

Bill's presence in the community was admired by many. He dedicated himself to various noble causes and organizations. Bill was an active member of the Pigeon Valley Lions Club, and was North Carolina Lions District Governor. This significant role exemplified his commitment to service and leadership. Additionally, he volunteered as a disaster relief worker and embarked on impactful mission trips to Jamaica and Honduras.
