Beverly Jones

Canton - Beverly Smathers Jones, 53, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 due to a short battle with cancer.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Rosemary Reagan Smathers Garren and the late Willie Roe Smathers. She was also preceded in death by a son, Randal Flay Jones who died in 1994 and sister and best friend, Linda Messer.

She graduated from Pisgah High School and was an employee of Ingles Corporation as a meat market manager for 30 years. Beverly was a mother, a sister and a Christian. Beverly loved her family, coffee, the beach and painting.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Sarah Jones; sister, Mary Ann Greene, two brothers, Jeff Smathers and Phillip W. Smathers (Stacy); a brother-in-law, Darryl Messer; nieces and nephews, Brian and Brandon Greene, Ashley and Joseph Messer, Kristen Rigdon (Colton), and Darian and Delaney Smathers; and a great nephew, Lane Rigdon.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Morning Star Community Cemetery with the Reverend Roy Houston officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
