Betty Sue Freeman West

Betty Sue Freeman West, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 15, 2025, in Greer, South Carolina, at the age of 80. She was born on May 12, 1945, in Haywood County, North Carolina.

Betty dedicated a significant portion of her life to her career as a machine operator for American Enka, where her hard work and dedication were recognized by her peers and supervisors alike. She was a proud graduate of the Bethel High School Class of 1964.

Deeply rooted in her faith, Betty was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was an avid reader, especially of the Holy Bible, and embraced the beauty of nature through camping and fishing. These activities not only brought her joy but also allowed her to forge lasting memories with her loved ones.

Surviving Betty are her two devoted sons, Eddie West (Shannon) and Brandon West, who carry forward her legacy of love and strength. She was also the proud grandmother of Josh Brooks (Alexis) and Macayla Hendrickson (Kyle), and the great-grandmother of Hudson Skelton, Noah and Hadleigh Hendrickson, Rowan Adams, Sawyer, and Alaina Hill. Her family remembers her as a nurturing presence who cherished them dearly.

Betty joins her parents, Sam and Annie Mann Freeman, in rest, along with her husband, Bruce Edward West, her sister Vera Freeman, and her brothers Roy, Jim, and Johnny Freeman.

The family invites friends and loved ones to pay their respects during the visitation on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, the funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Burial to follow at New Cruso Cemetery.

Betty Sue Freeman West will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and her strong faith. She will be profoundly missed yet fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

The care of Mrs. West has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
