Heaven gained an angel when Betty Jo Robinson Snyder, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at her residence in Newton, NC.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Effie Mae Putnam Robinson.  She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Ernie Snyder and all her siblings in her big family; three sisters, Ruth R. Passmore, Dorothy R. Cochran, and Ernestine R. Gardner; and four brothers, Earl, Cecil, Howell, and Don Robinson.  Three nephews, Dickie Cochran, Johnny Phillip Robinson, and Timothy Robinson also predeceased their Aunt Betty Jo.

A skilled baker, Betty Jo also enjoyed needlework and the challenge of a difficult crossword puzzle.  In her downtime, she liked watching her favorite drama series, Law & Order.  Betty Jo was looked to as a caretaker and support system for her large extended family.  Spending time with them and making special memories was her joy.

Betty Jo is survived by her dear nieces and nephew; Donnalene R. Brown, Kay Robinson, Maxine L. Hubbard, Robin G. Fendley, Donna McFadden, Sherrie Shafer, and D. Lowell Robinson, Jr.; several great-nieces and great nephews, Krista Whitener, Challen W. McRee, Avie R. Smith, Molly Jessup, Todd McFadden, Ryan McFadden, Carlee McFadden, Terri Parker, and Jaymie Schwartz; and longtime loving friend, Cherylann Titus Parlette.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.  Serving as pallbearers will be Marc McRee, Maddox McRee, Tommy Williamson, Anthony Smith, Bradley Robinson, and Brian Lail along with honorary pallbearers, Lowell Robinson and Tom Brown.

Memorials may be made for the purchase of a marker for Betty Jo and Ernie Snyder c/o Donnalene R Brown, 1516 Old Carriage Drive, Newton, NC 28658.

The care of Mrs. Snyder has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
