Betty Sue Pressley Parker, age 78, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late James Raleigh and Lura Ethel Ammons Pressley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Way "Skip" Parker, who died in 2005. Betty was a member of East Canton Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Wayne Parker; one daughter, Tamara Sue Parker and her husband, Darrell Wayne James, of Canton; one sister, Jimmie Pressley Singleton of Canton; four brothers, Michael Pressley of Spruce Pine, Tony and Tex Pressley both of Canton, and Sam Pressley of Clyde; five grandchildren, Kelly Michelle Henderson, Jeffrey Todd Stevens, Suzanne Stevens Inman, Mark and Wendy Trull; and six great-grandchildren, Alex, Mollie, and Ethan Henderson, Chelsea and Casey Inman, and Reagan Trull. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Gene Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3109 Poplarwood Court, Suite 125, Raleigh, NC 27604-1043.
