Betty Mintz

September 6, 1933 — December 12, 2002

Valdese-Betty Louise Hightower Mintz, age 69, of 3402 Tom Deal Avenue, died Thursday, December 12, 2002 at Grace Hospital in Morganton.

She was a native and life long resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Annis and Louise Browning Hightower. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lawrence Mintz, who died in 1986; a daughter, Evelyn Louise Mintz; and a brother, Billy Hightower. She was of the Baptist faith. She was employed as a CNA for the Pigeon Valley Rest Home in Canton for 10 years and for the Haywood Rest Home in Waynesville for 20 years. She was the best mother, grandmother and great grandmother there ever was.

She is survived by her daughter, Eva Mae Robinson and her husband, Roger, of Waynesville; two sons, Carl Mintz and his wife Paula, of Valdese and Bill Mintz and his wife, Debbie, of Morganton; four brothers, Bobby Queen, of Valdese, Raymond Hightower, of Cornelius, GA, Oscar Hightower, of Athens, GA and Arthur Hightower, of Cornelius, GA; 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at the Bethel Baptist Church. The Reverend Raymond Brooks and Reverend T. M. Gibson will officiate. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery. The body will be taken to the home of the daughter, Eva Mae Robinson, 29 Avalon Court, Waynesville, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

The pallbearers will be Matthew, Eddie, Alan, Charles, Johnny and Martin Mintz, and Johnny Gregory.

Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
