Betty Massie

Candler - Betty Jo Presley Massie, 90, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Aston Park Health Care.

A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Jess Weldon and Naomi Devlin Presley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Dianne Crawford. Betty Jo graduated from Candler High School and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where she retired as church secretary. She had previously worked at Ridgeway Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Glen Ray Massie; three daughters, Donna Crawford Bruce (Jim) of Candler, Gayle Helmadollar of Greeneville, Tennessee and Tamara Iafornaro (Mark) of Sanford, Florida; two sons, Richard L. Crawford, Jr. (Loretta) of Candler and Michael Massie (Connie) of Flat Rock; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Carson Mosley and Reverend Richard Baird officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
