Betty Eloise Edwards Johnson, 90, of Inman, South Carolina passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at her residence surrounded by loved ones. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Madeline Tow Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles Johnson Sr.; two brothers, Gene and Ray Edwards; sister, Edith Ledbetter and son-in-law, Jamey Moery.
Betty was loved by everybody she met. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and would think up reasons to have family gatherings. Betty loved to go on spontaneous trips with Charles and the kids. She was a long-time member of Emma United Methodist Church and a current member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Inman, South Carolina.
She is survived by a son, Chuck Johnson (Debi) of Leicester; three daughters, Phyllis Moery and Kerri Russell (John) of Inman, South Carolina, and Kelli Johnson of Hendersonville; six grandchildren, Nathan Moery (Teresa), Chase Moery, Aaron Johnson, Madeline Smith, Dylan Russell and Lexi Russell, and a special niece, Claudia Hines (Barry) who was like a daughter to her; niece, Brenda Ball and nephew, Dennis Edwards. She was lovingly known as “Nana” to many, including Samantha Matott, Misty Rice, Marcy Wike, David Rice, and many others too numerous to name.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in the Wells Chapel of Faith in Candler with the Reverend Miriam Mick officiating. A burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 until 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel.
The care of Mrs. Johnson has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
