Betty Ann Reece Birchfield, beloved wife of the late Donald V. Birchfield. She entered into rest on Friday, July 31, 2026. She was 91 years old. Betty was born on July 2, 1935, to the late Carl E. Reece and Lura Mae Davis. There were eight children, two boys and six girls. She was born in Haywood County and lived most of life in the Nievah section. She was retired from the Wellco Shoe Industry.

Her first marriage to Charles W. Davis, bore four children: Shirley, Charles, Nancy, and Edward. She married Donald Birchfield in 1967, he passed in 1985.

She loved to sit and talk with anyone about the old days and the family. She enjoyed reading, loved to can her green beans, and tomatoes. She always had a very good memory and loved her fur babies.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles F. Davis; her daughter, Shirley Ann Davis; her granddaughter, Audra Renee Davis; and her siblings and their spouses: Robert (Anna) Reece, Jack (Doris) Reece, Edna (Lonnie) Ruff, Margaret (Bill) Chambers, Josephine (Jody) Cunningham, Wilise (Rufus) Green, Willie (Raymond) Grooms.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her remaining children, her daughter, Nancy (Larry) Florence, and her son, Edward (Patsy) Davis; 6 grandchildren: Shirlene Stone, Christine Owen, Benji (Jasmine) Anderson, Erick (Beth) Florence, Vanessa Davis, Laura (Robbie) Bailey; 9 great-grandchildren: Chritopher (Pierre) Littles, Ashely (Allen) Richardson, Ethan Stone, Wyatt Owen, Schyler (Albert) Garrett, Zachary, Audra, Dayshawna, and John; 8 great-great grandchildren: Gavin Richardson, Harper Richardson, Alijah Richardson, Madison Phoenix, Demi Phoenix, Xavier Littles, Isaiah Littles, and Arianna Littles; a sister-in-law, Norma (Rick) Kerby; two brothers-in-law, Frank Birchfield, Ernest (Kathleen) Birchfield; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service honoring Betty’s life will be held at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville on, Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM, with Martha Whitley officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.

The care of Mrs. Birchfield has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
