Bertha Conard

Waynesville-Bertha Holt Conard, age 55, of Narcissus Court, died Saturday, March 19, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late James and Mable Hawkins Holt. She was employed by Silver Bluff Nursing Home as a CNA for six years and had been a Red Cross volunteer for the past twenty years. Mrs. Conard was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU. She volunteered at many schools and activities throughout the county and was part of the Carolina Gospel Aire's. She is survived by the father of her sons, William "Bill" Conard; two sons, Kirk Conard and his wife, Angie, and Steve Conard and his wife, Anessa, all of Waynesville; and three grandchildren, Keiffer Owen, Mary Deitz, and Gabriel Conard. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Reverend Richard Horn, Reverend Jay Jones, and Reverend Mike Odom officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Monday evening, March 21, 2005 at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Bill Conard, 353 Oakdale Road, Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Roy Trantham, Jerry Presnell, James Jiles, Danny Sorrells, Bill Rogers, and Myrl Brown. Honorary pallbearer will be Cecil Mathis, Gene Sutton, and Martin Scruggs.
