Benny Church

Waynesville-Benny L. Church, age 89, of Love Lane, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at Autumn Care. A native of North Wilkesboro, he was the son of the late Zeno and Hettie Bell Faw Church. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Willis Church, who died in 2002; four sisters; and two brothers. He was the print shop supervisor for The Mountaineer and retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of East Waynesville Baptist Church and enjoyed restoring antique lamps. He is survived by a son, Brendann "Bambie" Church and his wife, Linda, of Waynesville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2005 in the mausoleum chapel of Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with Reverend Alan Blanton and Reverend J. D. Grant officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Owen, Dale Steppleton, David Steppleton, Sr., and David Steppleton, Jr. Memorials may be to Center Pigeon Baptist Church Mission Fund, 224 Center Pigeon Road, Canton, NC 28716.
