Bennie "Bj" Morrow

At his home on June 30, 2020, good and faithful servant Bennie James (BJ) Morrow passed from this, his earthly home.  BJ entered this life on October 4, 1927 in the White Oak community to parents Mattie Roe (McElroy) and Edgar Morrow and was the oldest of their four children.  After graduating from Waynesville Township High School, he entered the Armed Forces.  He was an Army Air Corp veteran of WWII having been stationed in the Philippines.  Upon his discharge from service, BJ worked as a maintenance supervisor for American Enka Corporation first at the Enka, NC and later Morristown, Tennessee plants.

In addition to his parents, preceding BJ in passing was his wife and mother of his children, Billie Carole Morrow, and daughter, Rita Morrow Lusk.

BJ is survived by his second wife, Jean Hall Morrow; son Ron, and daughter-in-law, Audrey Morrow; daughter Tena, and son-in-law, Ken Wallace; granddaughters Jenny Witt and Lauronda Morrow; grandsons Lance (Nikki) Witt and Brian (Becky) Sutherland; and great-granddaughter Chloe Witt.  He is also survived by siblings Devoice Medford, Tommy Morrow (Lois) and Vanita Medford (Thad) along with several nieces and nephews and many others whose life he touched.

BJ was a member and Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Waynesville and was a 32nd degree Mason.  He lived by example and serving others was his ambition and pleasure.

A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with Pastor Holly Davis officiating.

BJ’s family would like to express sincere appreciation to Haywood Hospice and Angel Care caregivers Savannah Williams and Michael Sheehan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 305 N. Main Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.

The care of Mr. Morrow has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
