Belle Ballard

Swannanoa, NC-Belle Putnam Ballard, age 86, died July 21, 2005 at Asheville Health Care. A native of Haywood County, she had lived the last five and a half years in Swannanoa. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Maggie Greene Putnam. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Ballard, her son, Hoyt Ballard, and five brothers, Frank, Clyde, Noah, Charlie, and Jack Putnam. She was employed at Haywood County Hospital in the Housekeeping Department and was a member of Swannanoa First Baptist Church. She loved being with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Bobby and his wife, Anita, of Swannanoa, Leonard and his wife, Donna, of Silverdale, Washington, and Abby and her husband, Dale, of Swannanoa. She has seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her sister, Ruth Jackson, and her brother, Lloyd Putnam, live in Waynesville. The family wishes to thank the staff of Asheville Health Care for their love and care of our mother. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2005 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services with Reverend Mike Messer and Reverend Milton Hollifield, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Grandsons Robby, Hoyt, and Heath Ballard, Jack and Leonard Slaughter, and David Scott will serve as pallbearers.
