Beatrice Henry

Waynesville, Beatrice Jane "Bea" Henry, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2022 at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Beatrice was born in Sylva, North Carolina on December 18, 1926 to the late Everett and Bessie Harris.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stan Henry; two sisters, Katherine Barnwell and Bennie Lou Gibson.  She is a graduate of Western Carolina University and was a retired teacher for Haywood County Schools.  Beatrice had the joy and privilege of teaching special needs students at Central and later Lake Junaluska Elementary schools.  Along with her dear friend and assistant the late Mary Lou Grasty, she spent 20 plus years loving on and helping each student reach the goals that were set for them.  She always felt this was God’s plan for her life.

Beatrice is survived by two sons, Stanley C. Henry, Jr. and Steven L. Henry, and his wife, Tammy Milner Henry, of Waynesville; four grandchildren, Isaac, Ivey, Andrea and Michal; five great-grandchildren, Trent, Caiden, Cambrie, Isaiah and Kadan; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Barry Willett officiating.  Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Bea requested that donations be sent to The ARC of Haywood County, 407 Welch Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.

The care of Mrs. Henry has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
