Barbara Ann Muse, a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse at Memorial Mission Hospital, left a void in the hearts of her loved ones and colleagues following her passing on Thursday, January 4, 2024. She was born on July 20, 1949, in Haywood County to the late John and Ethel Hall Muse. Barbara spent her life bringing comfort and care to those in need.
Barbara's educational endeavors led her to great achievements. She completed her studies at Enka High School before pursuing higher education at Berea College. At Berea College, she delved into the field of Sociology, earning a well-deserved degree. This educational foundation would be the stepping stone for Barbara's future as an unwavering advocate for others.
With a genuine desire to make a difference in people's lives, Barbara embarked on her career at Memorial Mission Hospital. Throughout her years there, she exemplified professionalism and kindness. Always putting the needs of others before her own, Barbara provided exceptional care to countless patients while leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
Outside of her career, Barbara held family close to heart. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John and Ethel Hall Muse, and two little yorkies, Hall and Holly. Their memory will forever remain cherished as Barbara joins them in eternal peace.
Barbara's life partner of 50 years, Nell Jane Jones of Candler, was a source of unwavering support and love throughout their journey together. Nell Jane's presence brought strength to Barbara during both joyful moments and challenging times alike. They built their lives side by side with a deep bond that endured with each passing year.
Barbara also leaves behind two loving sisters: Brenda Lee Muse and Jo Ann Muse, both residents of Candler; two brothers: Miles and Roy Muse, also of Candler; and one niece, Melissa Keeslar, of Simpsonville, S.C.
A funeral service, honoring Barbara’s life, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January, 8, 2024 at Wells Chapel of Faith in Candler with the Brother David Hall officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Chapel. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Mausoleum.

Barbara Ann Muse lived a life defined by compassion, dedication, and a selfless nature that touched the lives of those she cared for as well as her loved ones. She will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to providing comfort to others during their times of need. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary soul, let us celebrate the myriad ways Barbara enriched the lives of those around her. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
