Barbara Michie

Barbara Townsend Michie, age 94, died Saturday, October 20, 2007, at Care Partners Solace Center following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Glen Ray and Edith LaDu Townsend. She was a native of Lisbon, ND and was a prior resident of New Jersey, Philadelphia, PA, and Briarcliff Manor, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan A. Michie, who died in 1973 and a son, Jeffrey Townsend Michie, who died in 2003. Mrs. Michie graduated from Ripon College in Ripon, WI and was employed as a legal secretary with Frank E. Greenberg attorney's office. She was a retired officer and life member of the Griswold Family Association along with being a member of the Mayflower descendents. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara M. Ryan of Fort Mill, SC and Janet M. Mann and her husband, Dennis, of Candler; a son, Allan J. Michie and his wife, Nita, of Columbia, TN; a sister, Virginia T. Lake of Lakeland, FL; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Private funeral services will be held. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2007, at Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Canton.
