Barbara Jean Scher Cubberley, 86, of the Candler community, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on October 12, 2026.

Born on August 6, 1940, in Newark, New Jersey, Barbara was the daughter of the late Charles Gilbert Scher and Eudora Grace Friggle Scher.

A woman of many talents, she was skilled in interior design, collecting many unique furnishing and decorative pieces over the many years. She was also a proud member of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Ladies Auxiliary, supporting the Ocean Grove community through Choir Festivals, Fish & Chip Dinners, book sales, flea markets and beautification projects.

Barbara devoted her life to her family and worked tirelessly to ensure her children had every opportunity to grow and thrive. She shared her kindness, compassion, and love freely with everyone she met, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Barbara is survived by her five children: Jill Lynn Bates of Candler, North Carolina; David Robert Cubberley of Attleboro Falls, Massachusetts; Jessica Jean Cubberley of Delaware Water Gap, Pennsylvania; Donna Sparella of Robbinsville, New Jersey; and Dawn Dounis of Port Monmouth, New Jersey.

She is also survived by her twelve beloved grandchildren; Lauren DaSilva, Matthew Cubberley, Dylan Boot, Jenny Little, Amelia Boot, Joshua Boot, Bailee Cubberley-Frazette, Tyler Cubberley-Frazette, Sam Sparella, Brooke Sparella, RJ Currie, Kelly Currie and Christos Dounis, as well as her great grandchildren and a host of extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

Services are being planned and will be announced at a later date once finalized.
