Barbara Ann Crowe

Barbara Anne Cocklereece Crowe, age 83, passed away peacefully the morning of Monday, November 20, 2023 at her home in Candler, NC after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Barbara was born December 15, 1939 to Herman and Cleo Cocklereece in Greensboro, NC. She was the eldest of five children. She graduated from Rankin High School in 1957. She married the love of her life, Johnny Crowe, on her birthday in 1962. They welcomed their first child, Tonya, in 1966 and their second, Monica, in 1968. Barbara worked for First Citizens Bank for 30 years as a Teller and a Manager of the Teller Line in Asheville. She and her husband were longtime members of West Asheville Baptist Church where she loved listening to the choir every Sunday. Together they loved exploring the mountains of Western NC and Eastern TN but Barbara's all-time favorite activity was watching the elk in Cherokee.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Cleo Cocklereece, and her brothers and sister, Ronald Cocklereece, Brenda Cocklereece Singleton, and Terry Cocklereece. She is survived by her brother, Larry Cocklereece. She is also survived by her husband, Johnny Crowe, and her two daughters, Tonya Crowe-Chinuntdet (John) and Monica Waters (Keith), and her four grandchildren, Jason Chinuntdet, Nicole Chinuntdet, Katelyn Crowe, and Sarah Chinuntdet.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2023,  at Forest Lawn Memorial Park of Candler with Reverend Tony Hooper officiating.  The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service time at the Wells Chapel of Faith.

The care of Mrs. Crowe has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
