Candler, Avis Everett Klusman, 68, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Mission Memorial Hospital.
A native of Sale Creek, Tennessee, Avis grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan, later moving to the Candler area. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Lee and Betty Whitfield Everett. Avis was a chef who showed her love through the art of baking and cooking delicious meals. She had a tradition of making countless batches of fudge and cookies to send to loved ones over the holidays. Avis loved country music, especially Rascal Flats. She and her daughter, Crystal, made wonderful memories attending their concerts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Samuel Klusman who died in 2008, and her brother Joseph Wayne Everett.
Avis is survived by two daughters, Tammy Munoz (David) of Candler, NC, and Crystal Merritt of Nashville, TN; one sister, Janice Burt (Gary) of Battle Creek, Michigan; one brother, Randy Everett (Diane) of Evansville, TN; and two grandchildren, Capricia and Samuel Merritt.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home, with the Reverend Scott Sprinkle officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
