Audrey King

Audrey Buchanan King passed from this world to meet Jesus in Heaven on Friday, May 21, 2021 at her residence following a long battle with cancer.

A native of Jackson County, Audrey had resided in Buncombe County since her graduation from Blanton’s Business College in 1956.  Bookkeeping was her lifelong work.

Audrey was the daughter of the late Claude and Irene Gribble Buchanan. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Ray Israel; an adoptive sister, Ruth Buchanan Hall (James) and an adoptive brother, David Buchanan.

Surviving is her loving husband of 36 years, Fred King of Candler; daughter, Staci Israel Kohn (Randy) of Summerfield, NC; two grandchildren who were the joy of her life, Nathan Kohn and Erin Kohn; sister-in-law, Inajean Buchanan of Darrington, Washington and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

A member of Good News Baptist Church, Audrey loved her church family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home, 3715 Asheville Highway, Canton, NC.  The Reverend Steve Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00 p. m. prior to the service.  Interment will follow the service at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
