Arthur Moon

Waynesville, Arthur Lee Moon, age 89, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at his residence.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Arthur Levi and Mary Ellis Kirkpatrick Moon.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, June Joslin Moon, who died in 1996 and his second wife, Bonnie Wells Moon, who died in 2020.  Arthur was a member of Crabtree United Methodist Church.  He worked as a Logistics Manager for 20 years with Sonoco Products in Hartsville, South Carolina.  Arthur was an Interstate Commerce Commission Practitioner and former employee of Dayco and Champion.  His love for music started at a young age, he played the violin in church, saxophone in a jazz band and was director of a handbell choir, along with many other instruments.  Arthur started the model airplane club and airfield in Haywood County.  He was a collector of Indian Artifacts and was a contributor to The Mountaineer on several articles.

Arthur is survived by two daughters, Ginger L. Moon, of Hendersonville and Holly M. Quick, of Cheraw, South Carolina; son, Bruce A. Moon, and his wife, Sharon, of Pickens, South Carolina; sister, Marianna M. Rutz, and her husband, Anthony, of Clyde; four grandchildren, Kimberly Bullard, and her husband, Jonathan, Jay Holliday, Kyrsten Sutton and Caitlin Quick; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Old Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Clyde.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until service time at the funeral home.  The service will be live streamed and will be accessible through Arthur’s obituary on Wells Funeral Homes website.
