Anna Messer Sawyer, 92, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Born on February 11, 1934, Anna was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was raised in Cove Creek and attended Waynesville Township High. Anna retired from Elegant Interiors in Waynesville.

She was the daughter of the late William E. and Ruth Tucker Messer. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, James H Sawyer and sister Mary Lou Medford. She is survived by two sons, James “Jim” (Shirley) and Geroge (Julie), two grandchildren, Nicholas and Grace Sawyer, and a brother, William Messer.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial can be made to Crabtree United Methodist Church building fund, 5405 Crabtree Road, Clyde, NC, 28721.

The care of Ms. Sawyer has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
