Anna Brown

Canton - Anna Lee Wells Brown, 89, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late James M. and Florence Hargrove Wells. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ned Walter Brown, who died 2005 and one brother, Walter Wells. She was eight days shy of her 90th birthday. Anna Lee retired after 25 years of service as secretary at Bethel Elementary School and was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church. She loved gardening, sewing and cooking.

She is survived by three sons and their wives, Walter and Sharon Brown and Fred and Joy Brown, all of Canton, and Jim and Sandy Brown of Bristol, Virginia; one sister, Mary Hipps of Asheville; two brothers, Joe Wells of Canton and Burton Wells of Columbia, South Carolina; and four grandchildren, Jason Brown and wife, Penny, Amanda Lanning and husband, Shane, Josh Brown and wife, Laura, and Brandon Brown and wife, Megan; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Paul D. Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
