Ann Overbeck

Waynesville, Ann Louise Overbeck, born July 19,1933, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022.

The daughter of C.J. and Harriot West Overbeck, Ann grew up in Evanston, Illinois, where she attended Willard, Haven and Evanston Township High School.  She went to Cornell University and did graduate work at Smith College School for Social Work.  Her clinical social work career led to positions at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, the Langley Porter Neuropsychiatric Institute in San Francisco, the Community Mental Health Center in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and faculty positions at Pennsylvania State University, Western Michigan University, Smith College, and the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Ann retired in 1995 to Waynesville, North Carolina, in the Smoky Mountains where she enjoyed family and friends, community volunteer work and world travel.

Ann is survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Whitsitt Overbeck; nephew, Richard Overbeck, and his children, Victoria and Trevor; niece Stephanie Orcutt, and her daughter Jessica.

No services are planned.

The care of Mrs. Overbeck has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
