Andy Lindsey

Canton – Edwin Andrew “Andy” Lindsey, 86, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 at St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Robert and Ola Killian Lindsey.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Bea Lindsey, Ruth Hall and Violet Phillips; five brothers, Kyle, Beecher, John, Lucius and Ken Lindsey; and a daughter, Kaye Lindsey, who died in 1991.  Andy served his country as a National Guardsman for several years.  He was employed at Champion International for 42 years and after his retirement from Champion, he went to work at the Haywood County Sheriff’s office for 15 years.  Andy was a member of West Canton Baptist Church, Master of the Clyde Masonic Lodge 453 AF & AM in 1977 as well as a Shriner for many years and a former member of the Rescue Squad.

He is survived by his wife of  68 years, Doris Caldwell Lindsey; one daughter, Leslie Lindsey Smith (Jim), of Canton; two grandchildren, Cameron Todd Smith of Canton and Cody Pal Smith (Samantha) and three very special great-grandchildren, Andrew Colt, Hannah Leighton and Jace Austin, all of Maryville, Tennessee; and one longtime companion, Zoe.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jonathan Blaylock and Reverend Carrol Lindsay officiating.  Entombment will be follow at The Horizon at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.  A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.  At other times, the family will be at 1991 Beaverdam Road in Canton.
