Alvin Ballard

Canton- Alvin Jennings Ballard- age 71 of 2884 Old Asheville Highway, died Monday, August 7, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Buncombe County but had lived in Haywood County for 18 years. He was a son of the late Bill and May Belle Head Ballard. Mr. Ballard was employed by Asheville Fire Department as a firefighter for 42 years and served in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Adeline Mease Ballard; one daughter, Stephanie Jane Honeycutt and her husband, Joey, of Mars Hill; one sister, Linda Ballard Kennedy and her husband Bruce, of Arden; two brothers, Gary Ballard and his wife, Becky, of Weaverville and Ray Allen Ballard and his wife, Amy, of Huntersville. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2006 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Chris Willett officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
