Alpha Williams

Waynesville, Alpha Irene Best Williams, age 85, of White Oak Road, passed away on Friday, October 07, 2011 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Carroll and Bertie Davis Best. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Teague Williams who died in 1975, five brothers, and one sister. Alpha was an administrative assistant at Dayco and retired in 1989. Alpha will be remembered for her love and kindness shown to all who knew her. She was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed flowers and gardening. Alpha was devoted to her faith and lived her life as a loyal Christian. She is survived by three sons, William Teague "Bill" Williams, Jr., Hugh Carroll Williams and his wife, Darlene, and Kelly Williams and his wife, Martha; one sister, Betty Terrell, all of Waynesville; six grandchildren, Ben Williams, Matthew Williams and his wife, Ami, Brad Williams, Rosemary Rogers and her husband, Jeremy, Katie Lanning and her husband, Israel, and Karen Lanning and her husband, Ricky; and six great-great grandsons. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at White Oak Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Putnam and Reverend Maurice Sheehan officiating and special music will be provided by LaNeah Dyson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the church.
