Alonzo Woody

Clyde- Alonzo Woody- age 80 of 595 Main Street died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a son of the late Floyd and Maggie Singleton Woody. He was preceded in death by a son, Bennie Woody; four sisters, Evelyn Wheeler, Nina Woody, Blanche Gillette and Alice Trull and two brothers, Junior and James Woody. Mr. Woody loved to fish and was a hard worker. He retired from Carolina Power & Light Co. in 1991 and was a member of Hominy Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carrie Woody; three sons, Danny Woody, Perry Woody, and his wife, Brenda and Terry Woody, all of Clyde; two sisters, Ethel Parton, of Waynesville and Lucy Edwards, and her husband, Jack, of Brevard; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Saturday, June 17, 2006 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Charles Bishop and Reverend Winfred Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
