Alice Overman

Waynesville, Alice Leona Christopher Overman, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Autumn Care of Waynesville. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Conard and Ellen Rebecca Moore Hembree. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Climbingbear, a son, Robert Christopher; two special grandchildren; four brothers and five sisters. Alice was a loving, caring, and giving woman of God. For 13 ½ years, you could find Alice joyfully volunteering with the Open Door Ministries. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Mills (Charles) of Waynesville and Mary Messer and her fiancé, (Eugene Ewart); four sons, Bill Conard of Waynesville, Richard Conard (Peggy) of Franklin, NC Sammie Christopher of Lantana, Florida and Jimmy Christopher of Canton; one sister, Ada Rogers of Sylva, NC and a half sister, Euna Jaynes of Waynesville; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Ivadean Arrington. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Harry Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
