Alice Burnette

Waynesville, Alice Jane Burnette, age 88, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Brian Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Madge Smith Burnette and was also preceded in death by a sister, Lilly M. Smith; and one brother, Rufus Burnette. Alice is survived by two daughters, Emily A. Olson and Edith Burnette both of Phillips, Wisconsin; a son, Deno Hicks of Chicago; three sisters, Ernestine and Ruth Burnette of Waynesville and Nora Conley of Canton; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Edward Staley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Special thanks is given to Mrs. Nettie Frizzell and her family, Mrs. Georgia Forney, and friends and staff at the Brian Center for their loving care.
