Canton-Alcie Henson Cook -98, formerly of the Henson Cove Community, died Thursday, September 19, 2002 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
She was a native of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Turner and Ollie Stamey Henson. She was the wife of the late Perry Herman Cook who died in 1981 and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Steppleton and a grandson, Larry Steppleton. She was a charter member of Center Pigeon Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Ruby and Hillary Gibson of Waynesville, Edith and Ray Cook and Martha and Way Mease, Jr., all of Canton, two sons and their wives, Guy Lewin and Geraldine Cook of Canton, Earl W. and Zanie Cook of Waynesville, 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2002 at Center Pigeon Baptist Church with Reverend R. G. Garland, Reverend R. H. "Bud" Lance, Reverend Ricky Gibson and Reverend Wayne Willett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the church fellowship hall. At other times, the family will be at the home of the daughter, Ruby and Hillary Gibson, 123 Cope Road in the Stamey Cove Community. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons.
