Aaron Wells

Bethel - Aaron Fredrick Shane Wells, 18, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at UNC Children's Hospital, Chapel Hill, following a long and gallant battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Aaron's fight encompassed his entire life. He welcomed each day as a gift, however, his fight was courageous and fearless each and every day.

A native of Haywood County, Aaron was the son of Dee Wells and Shaun Sorrells of Bethel. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Teddy Wells; grandparents; Frances Noland, Judy and Freddy Marcus and Joe McCracken.

Aaron loved tools and had an extensive collection that would rival any mechanic in Haywood County. Other loves in Aaron's life were his dirt bike, his collection of firearms, his love of PlayStation gaming and his gaming family throughout the United States.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, "Nana" Elena McCracken and David Potts of Greer, SC, "Pawpaw" Keith McCracken of Clyde, and Doug and Sandra Sorrells of Bethel; a sister, Addison Sorrells of Hayesville; one brother, Taylor Sorrells of Canton; cousins, Avery, Adelena, Rome, Kate and Kasey; uncles, Shane Wells (Kyla), Tony Marcus (Becky), and Jeff Marcus; aunts, Keisha McCracken (Tom), Reba Marcus Brandt (Jody), Lou Smith (Leo) and Jackie Henson; and Aaron's beloved cats, Stewie and Lola.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 1, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ray Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow at Gwyn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening, August 31, 2018 at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
