Lake Junaluska, David Arthur Wright, 89, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at his residence.

A native of Gaston County, NC, David lived most of his life in Lake Junaluska.  He was the son of the late William Arthur and Edith Hoover Wright.  In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Norma Roberts Wright in 2022.  David served his country proudly as a member of the Army.  He attended the University of North Carolina and Pfeiffer University and obtained a bachelor’s degree.  David spent his career as a tire sales manager and, along with his wife Norma, worked as an innkeeper at Lake Junaluska.

David was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville.  He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, ping pong, traveling and running.  David was fond of spending time with his grandsons and volunteered with the Make a Wish Foundation.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Choate; his son, Mark Wright; and four grandsons, Tripp (Carley), Dylan, Beau, and Pre Choate.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Lake Junaluska Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, 1293 Hendersonville Rd, #1, Asheville, NC 28803 or the United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) at unmission.org.

The care of Mr. Wright has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
