Canton – Violet Murr Ward, 90, passed away on Sunday, December 02, 2018 at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Vestal Carl and Ethel Mae Phillips Murr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ward, who passed away in 2005 and a son, Richard, who passed away in 2009. Violet was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and worked for many years at Hendrix Drug Store in Canton. She also enjoyed sewing and baking for family and friends and singing with the Sweet Adelines.
She is survived by one daughter, Glena Ward Stiles (Ward) of Candler; two grandchildren, Laurel Stiles and Meredith Stiles Doehling (Jon); two great-grandchildren, Ada and James Doehling; and one cousin, Wanda Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Paul Murdock officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
