Shirley Ann (Lowe) Whitt

Candler – Shirley Whitt, 85, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

Shirley was a native of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Herman Ervin and Willie Arrington Lowe.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Caroline K. Lowe Stroupe, Herman Lowe, Jr. and Sandra Lowe Kelly.  She graduated from Canton High School Class of 1955.  Shirley loved raising her kids and grandkids.  She was a Home Operations Manager, dietician and teacher to her family.  Shirley also taught a Sunday School Class at Ridgeway Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold Whitt; two sons, Mike and Phil Whitt; four grandchildren, David, Harmony, Melody, and Elliot; two grandchildren, Andrew and Maddie; two sisters, Judy Lowe and Patsy Lowe Devlin; and one brother, Kenneth Lowe..

A private funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating.  A private burial will follow.  The service will be live streamed at 11:00 a.m. and may be viewed by a link on Wells Funeral Home website at www.wellsfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridgeway Baptist Church, 525 Old 19/23 Hwy, Candler, NC  28715.
