Maude Q. Rogers
Canton – Maude Queen Rogers, 98, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
Maude was born weighing only two pounds on June 29, 1921 in the logging village of Sunburst near present day Lake Logan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Nina Reece Queen; her childhood sweetheart and husband of 60 years, the Reverend Lucious Jay Rogers; a son, Master Gunnery Sergeant Lucious Steve Rogers of the United States Marine Corp; three brothers; and three sisters. She was a member of Burnett Siding Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Madeline Gail Mehaffey of Waynesville and Linda Parker (Blaine) of Lake Logan; a son, Mark Bryan (Pam) of Lake Logan; a daughter-in-law, Erlinda Rose Rogers of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Chad, a special granddaughter Shannon, Jeremy Parker (Shannon), Manuel Rogers (Ashley), and Anthony Rogers; six great-grandchildren, Natalie and Seth Trantham, Nathan Moore, Dexter, Madison and Caleb Rogers; and one sister, Lucille Carver of Tennessee.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Burnett Siding Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Donnie Henson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Burnett Siding Missionary Baptist Church, 7321 Lake Logan Road, Canton, NC, 28716.
