William West

Canton - William Tolliver West, age 85, of 9773 Cruso Road, died Friday, May 5, 2006, at his residence. He was the son of the late William Augustus and Martha Warren West and preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Brian West, who died in 2001. He retired from Andy Oxy Company with 25 years of service. He was a member of Meadow Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a member of the Hominy Valley Masonic Lodge 491 AF&AM. Mr. West was a United States Navy veteran having served in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Laura Burnette West; a son, Darryl D. West and his wife, Shelly, of Candler; a brother, Wayne West, of Georgia; two grandchildren, Amelia and Cassie; and one great-grandchild, Christopher Brian West II. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2006 in the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with the Reverend Mark Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery in Canton with military and Masonic graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
