William Ledford

Waynesville, William Hugh "Redeye" Ledford, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Mission Hospitals Memorial Campus. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Dora Rhinehart Ledford of Canton and the late William Lloyd Ledford. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Christopher Ledford and a brother, Clarence "Goldie" Ledford. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Korea War. Hugh enjoyed visiting with his friends, watching NASCAR and spending time with his golden retriever, "Goldie." In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 50 + years, Virginia Hyatt Ledford of Waynesville; two sons, William Kevin Ledford of Waynesville and Bobby Ledford and his wife, Ingrid, of Fines Creek; two sisters, Pauline Wood of Enka and Ailene Rice and her husband, Josh of Crabtree and two grandchildren, Loagin and Landin Ledford. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the American Legion. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
