William Ward

William Glenn Ward. age 82, of Oakmont Drive, died Sunday, October 30, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Jackson County, but lived most of his life in Haywood County. He was the son of the late W. Glenn Ward, Sr. and Carrie Buchanan Ward. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Polly Wolffer. Mr. Ward was a United States Navy Veteran serving during WW II. He was a carpenter by trade and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was also a member of the VFW- Post 5198 and the American Legion- Post 47. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Violet Murr Ward; one daughter, Glena Stiles and her husband, Ward of Candler; one son, William Richard Ward of Asheville; two sisters, Nell Warren of Sylva and Patsy Karkosky of Texas; three brothers, Jimmy Ward of Sylva, Darnell Ward of Germany and Edward Ward of Florida; two granddaughters, Meredith and Laurel Stiles. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dennis Ruff officiating. Burial will follow at Bon- A- Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
