Willard Christensen

Waynesville, Williard George "Bill" Christensen, age 96, of Steely Dan Drive, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011 at his residence. A native of Minnesota, he had resided in Haywood County for the past ten years and was the son of the late Christian Peter and Olga Petersen Christensen and was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. He was a retired shipping clerk from the Midland Cooperative with 30 years of service. Willard enjoyed building and repairing homes, and over the years had built three special homes just for his family, by himself and from the ground up. He was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband and family man to his surviving wife of 73 years, Rowena Roberts Christensen, a daughter, Susan Christensen; Kim Butler and her sons, Donald and Dennis Butler; a niece, Eva Addison and her husband, Duane, and her sons, Stephen, Andrew and Paul Erickson; and several other nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p .m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services with Reverend Tom Tout officiating.
