Virginia Evans

July 3, 1922 — March 19, 2014

Waynesville, Virginia Evans, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the Brian Center. A native of Winchester, Indiana, she was a prior resident of Toledo, Ohio and had resided in Haywood County for the past 40 years. She was the daughter of the late Warren and Sara Buckmaster Holloway. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady "Bill" Evans who died in 2002; a sister, Colleen Martin and a brother, Bud Holloway. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was a devoted Christian lady. Virginia was a self-employed seamstress for many years. Virginia was last employed with Curves, and enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting and traveling with Squire Parson. She is survived by a daughter, Alice Evans of Waynesville; three sisters, Marilyn Gulley of Florida; Bonnie Copenhaver of Michigan and Alice Milligan of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made for the care of her daughter, Alice at Haywood Lodge, 251 Shelton Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
