Verlyn Henson

Verlyn Henson, age 71, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Earl and Bessie Dot Nations Henson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Annie Henson, Violet Edna Snyder, and Virginia Blythe; and three brothers, Vannoy Luther, Vernon, and Donald Valgene "Butch" Henson. He retired from Champion International with over 30 years of service and he attended Sunny Point Baptist Church. Verlyn enjoyed spending time outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He is survived by a son, Charles "Chuck" Henson of Canton; one brother, Vanise Henson and his wife, Mary Lou of Canton; and one granddaughter, Morgan Henson. No services are planned. Memorials may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716.
